W. Lawton Brown has been called an eclectic and a renaissance man... experiencing much that life has to offer in his quest for a deeper meaning to human existence. His life began in abject poverty during the infamous midwest dust bowl years. Along his life path he has held many varied jobs including: dishwasher, janitor, gardener, Boeing factory worker, professional cartoonist, professional astrologer, metaphysical teacher, Merrill Lynch stockbroker, and an international award-winning direct marketing/advertising creative director and writer.
As a brash 14 year old teenager he challenged his Baptist minister's fire and brimstone sermons, saying that many of them made no sense. That led to a 40 year study of other religions and metaphysics in his tireless quest to discover the truth. Lawton's research took him into a myriad of metaphysical fields - astrology, automatic writing, the Edgar Cayce readings, channeling, hypno-regression, the I Ching, mental telepathy, numerology, past-life regression therapy, psychic recall, pyramid healing, the tarot and even UFO's.
Describing himself as an open-minded skeptic, he urges readers to be open-minded rather than close-minded and skeptical rather than gullible. The close-minded person who denies the existence of anything that's not in a government endorsed school text, or fits under the scientist's microscope, or a part of one's religious belief system, will only be limiting his or her intellectual and spiritual growth. The open-minded skeptic is not afraid to look, searching for ultimate truths rather than erecting a truth-obscuring brick wall around metaphysics.
